2009 Makalu base camp - 2016 Gosaikunda

Incredible trek to Gosaikunda Lake, December 2018
I did the Gosaikunda trek, starting from Dhunche and headed towards Sundarijal in December 2018. Dinesh came recommended to me and I would readily recommend him, Bharat, Tika (my guide) and the team at Nature Explore to anyone else looking to do a trek.
Organisation: I had limited time and organised it quite last minute. I had been in Nepal for 3 months and decided I wanted to do a trek and where I wanted to do it. I had decided on that trekking route before I approached Nature Explore. They were extremely helpful in helping me organise the trip, advising on timings, route, weather conditions, kit and permits. I honestly feel that everyone went out of their way to help me organise my trip, especially as it was fairly last minute (met first time on Wednesday, trek started Friday). I had been speaking to Dinesh on facebook, who gave me some great advice. Bharat came to my accommodation in Patan and then the next day I went to their office in Thamel. They took me for lunch, showed me the best shops in Thamel for coats (it's hard to know when they all look the same!) and introduced me to my guide, Tika (who was great!).
Prices: They are very reasonable, unlike the extortionate prices big international trekking companies charge. And I feel like this is a better, more personal service. I chose to pay the guide separately, paying for my own food and accommodation during the trek. For a guide, they charged $20/day. This is quite cheap, but note that the prices will vary depending on season and how busy they are. It wasn't peak season and was very quiet when I went.
Route: Gosaikunda is a beautiful trek with some amazing views of the mountains. I could see all the way across to the Annapurna range including the 'Fish Tail': I would definitely recommend it! The highest point you reach is 4610m, at the pass. The teahouses are basic along most of the route, until you reach further down south in to Kutumsang. But also note that off peak season few teahouses are open so you don't have a choice!
Guide: As a solo traveler, I definitely wanted to take a guide with me. Tika was amazing. He was very knowledgeable about the area and so helpful with everything. He made me feel very comfortable for my whole trip and I would 100% recommend him as a guide!
