2015 Earthquake & Langtang:

 

In 2015, Nepal experienced a devastating earthquake killing more than 8000 people. Among many affected areas of Nepal, the Langtang region was hit the most. Additionally, the Langtang Lirung Avalanche and landslide further damaged the area. In fact, the entire village of Langtang was under the mud and washed away. Therefore, there is a new settlement nearby the village. For years, the trekking activities in the area were abandoned. The people of Langtang are so intrepid that life has come back to normalcy. Trekkers can find good teahouses and lodges in trekking. The people have risen with more vigor and determination. Therefore, if you want to do trekking in Nepal; do the trek in the Langtang areas. Monasteries and Tamang / Lama Villages :

 

Tamang or Lama people are ethnic hilly people of Nepal. Most of these people live in the Langtang areas. They have their own language, culture, and traditions unlike regular Nepalese people (Brahmins, Chhetris, Dalits). Most of these people follow both Hinduism and Buddhism. However, Buddhism is their major religious ideology. Therefore, trekking in the trekking routes of the region offer the best knowledge for these people.

Apart from their villages, the region is rich in monasteries too. These monasteries are not ordinary ones. In fact, these monasteries are centuries old. The monastery in Kyanjin Gompa in fact has a rich history of more than 300 years. It shows the kind of religious and mythical significance of the area.

 

Gosainkunda Lake of Langtang Region: 

 

People often believe that you must visit the area at least once in a lifetime if you are a Hindu or a Buddhist. The core is the presence of a sacred lake the Gosainkunda Lake. The lake is equally important to both Hindus and Buddhists. Nepal is known for religious tolerance and harmony. The importance of the lake to both sets of followers signifies it. According to Hindu mythology, the lake was formed after Lord Shiva hit his trident into the rocks of the area. He was in utter pain when he engulfed the poison that was about to destroy the universe. In order to get relief from the pain, he threw his trident and thus appeared the water. Therefore, there is a belief that those who take bath or drink from the lake will have their sins washed. Vegetation and Wildlife  Diversity in the Langtang region Nepal:

 

Trekking routes of the Langtang Region fall within the Langtang National Park. The park is rich in vegetation and wildlife. Temperate deciduous forests to sub–alpine and alpine forests are available within the park. Different types of endangered species of animals and insects have their habitat inside the park. The most interesting animal inside the park is the endangered species of Red Panda.
