Introduction

Shivapuri National Park is the closest national park from Kathmandu which is the best choice for those who are looking for a short hike within a very limited time. 6-7 hours is well enough for this short hike. Shivapuri located at an altitude of 2563m north of Kathmandu valley. Shivapuri offers most spectacular views of Kathmandu City, the beauty of Shivapuri wildlife reserve, Source of holy Bagmati river (Baghdwar) and cultural diversity of rural villages. Shivapuri hiking is a short and easy adventure near the capital. Shivapuri National Park conserves Rhododendron trees, Jungle cats, Leopards, Monkeys, Oak trees, Himalayan Black Bear.

Shivapuri Hiking begins and ends at Budhanilkantha from where you can view mountain ranges, sunrise, and sunsets. Then you'll walk through Shivapuri National Park to reach Nagi Gumba. Nagi Gumba is situated just above Budhanilkantha Mandir at an altitude of 2330m north of Kathmandu where famous Monastery is located. After visiting Monastery, the trail goes uphill through rhododendron, oak and bamboo forest for almost 3 hours and then you can enjoy stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Dorji Lakpa, Langtang-Lirung Himalayas. After enjoying panoramic views of Himalayas, you take shortcut downhill to Budhanilkantha and your hike ends here.
